The purpose of the UMBCD is to do the following:
A. Raise awareness of pertinent issues to the Democratic Party, and progressive politics.
B. Educate students about the philosophy of the Democratic Party.
C. Provide logistical support and assistance to local, state, and national campaigns and political organizations.
D. Promote civic engagement at the University of Massachusetts Boston, by working to bring more young people into the political process.
E. Cooperate with other University of Massachusetts Boston clubs and activities, and foster a general sense of bipartisanship and civility with those who do not hold similar political beliefs.
F. Facilitate local internship opportunities for University of Massachusetts Boston students.
