Mon, Oct 20 2008 10:46 PMUN Day Invitation.
Hello! I would like to invite the members to a very special event this Friday. This year is the 60th anniversary of the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The UMB Model UN club will host a second annual UN Day event in recognition of the United Nations to be held this Friday Oct 24th, 2008 from 1-3pm on the 11th floor of the Healey Library.
This year there will be five speakers. First the distinguished Provost Winston Langley will open the event with a few remarks. Then political science and international relations department professor Jalal Alamgir will speak on the UN development agenda while Nikki Tishler, a student from UMass Amherst and the MA STAND Representative will speak on the United Nations and the genocide in Darfur. The next speaker will be Prof. Jennifer Clifford speaking on global food security while UMass Boston's own United Nations expert Prof. Robert Weiner will be speaking on the effectiveness of the United Nations.
It should be a truly great event and all are welcome to attend. People should go because it is not going to be an event that is only positively celebrating the United Nations. These speakers are topic experts who will be speaking in realist terms about the United Nations and the discussion at hand. There will be time for questions following each discussion so faculty, staff, and students should come prepared. We would be honored if you would join us on this spectacular day but more importantly spread word to your fellow faculty and students that they may also join us. What: UN Day Where: 11th Floor of Healey Library Staff Function RoomWhen: October 24th, 2008Time: 1-3pm Light refreshments will be served. You may contact UMBMODELUN@yahoo.com for more information. Filipino Tagged that is..
So I was browzing through YouTube the other day and I came across this game called "The Filipino Tag Game" created by GenTosMenTos and my brother thought it would be a cool idea to post it up on here. So if you haven't seen it yet the rules are pretty easy:
RULES:
1. If your tagged you have to play
2.LOL, been getting a lot of complaints! just tag who ever you want! Have fun!
Questions:
1. When was the last time you were in the Philippines.
2. Name 1 Filipino dish you enjoy the most? Why?
3. Name 1 Filipino house hold item that best resembles our culture.
4. Do you know how to speak in Tagalog? If so say a phrase or two.
5. Which part of the Philippines are you from?
This seems like a really cool idea to find out more about you're fellow Filipinos :] enjoy!
