BROWN UNIVERSITY PSYCHOLOGY RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITION
Brown Medical School researchers working at Butler Hospital are seeking research assistants to work on grant-funded studies focused on developing new interventions for patients with major depression with psychosis, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, or suicidality. Many of our projects focus on developing new psychosocial treatments (including cognitive-behavioral and family therapies) or combined treatments (pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy) for these problems, with some projects focusing on special populations such as hospitalized patients, primary care patients, pregnant and postpartum women, and returning veterans. Research assistants are responsible for recruiting subjects and conducting assessments with psychiatric patients.
Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field required; good interpersonal skills important. Experience with psychiatric patients or research interviewing desirable. Experience/skills in data management (SPSS, Filemaker) or Spanish language skills also a plus. This is an excellent position for applicants interested in gaining valuable research and clinical experience prior to applying to graduate school.
The Psychosocial Research Program, located in Providence, RI, is affiliated with Brown University Medical School, and is under the leadership of Ivan Miller, Ph.D. Other faculty members include Cynthia Battle, Ph.D., Gary Epstein-Lubow, M.D., Brandon Gaudiano, Ph.D., Lisa Uebelacker, Ph.D., and Lauren Weinstock, Ph.D.
